Small hotel in Maremma Toscana Our Agriturismo, Hotel Prategiano, is situated in a peaceful and panoramic location on a large property surrounded by meadows and woods. Here, you will enjoy traditional stunning views over the hills and valleys of Maremma Tuscany. In addition, a short 7 minute walk brings you into the quiet medieval town of Montieri. Our small 3-star hotel has the warm charm of a rustic Tuscan agriturismo with its terracotta statues, red marble stone walls, swimming pool with terracotta floor tiles, and porphyry stone-work. The spacious upstairs sitting area with a wood-beam ceiling, fireplace and windows framing the far-reaching mountainous view is inviting, and as you sit, the declious smells wafting from the kitchen will keep you waiting by the kitchen door. The hotel and agritourism has 24 rooms, a bar, a restaurant, a small meeting room, and a large living room area with beautiful views. Internet points and a large TV are available free to our guests. You have a fast WIFI internet connection nearly in all places inside and around the hotel. Outside, you will find a small garden perfect for a drink while watching the sunset. On clear days, you will have a wonderful view over Maremma Toscana until the towers of San Gimignano at 55 km away. Beneath the hotel terrace is a swimming pool, jacuzzi, and table tennis area, as well as covered and uncovered car parks. The horse stables are about 300m from the hotel. Hospitality is fundamental at this quaint hotel. Our guests often share similar interests and find socializing and making friends easy. Grandfather Paradisi bought the hotel in 1971 and was one of the first people in Italy to offer country holidays based, above all, on horseback riding. The third and fourth generations of the family have also maintained this sense of hospitality and enthusiasm for riding. Here, the Paradisi family will look after you along with a team of international employees. Our Mission We would like to create an atmosphere for you which makes you feel good. An atmosphere of happiness and relaxation which allows you to feel both in direct contact with nature and yourself, like a journey from your beginning roots to the future. When it’s time to leave, your suitcase will be so full of emotion that you will have difficulty closing it. The main aim of our mission is summarized in the name “Rifugio Prategiano”, adopted as a symbol of Giano Bifronte. Refuge, because it is isolated, physically and also ideally, from the stormy interference of modern activities and the temporary fashions, and Prategiano (Prato di Giano) because it summarises the mythical Giano, dio bifronte (God). God of opposing faces (images), one who looks back in time and the other who looks to the future. It was in 1971 that Prof, Orazio Paradisi, born in 1928, firstly became a pedagogue and then director of a formation project, then as the Minister of Work and advisor with his own business activity. He co-involved the entire family, including mother, children and then the nephews Andrea and Emilio to establish Rifugio Prategiano and thats how it is known today: hospitality, yes, but more than a window which looks outwards, but also with a deep look into our inner-selves. The wonders of nature have planted in our fertile minds something that with the contact of a variety of plants, animals and landscapes, it helps us to measure ourselves with our biological evolution, and in particular the horse our faithful, silent and decent partner. The Prategiano is a stepping stone towards an important experience for adults and formation of life values for youngsters. We give priority to the essence of reality, giving you the effect of nullity to “what is today’s fashion”, to understand the real sense of the things that happen around us.

Enjoy our warm water pool with hydromassage - Relax like in a hot spring thermal pool! Whereas the unheated big pool is open from about mid may to mid september, you can relax body and mind having a massage in our heated mini pool all season long! The hot water (35 - 38 degrees Celsius, depending on the season) provides exacly this natural feeling of wellbeing that you need after a long day of sightseeing, excursions, horse riding, hiking or mountain biking. ATV Bike Excursion in Maremma Toscana For many years we have worked in cooperation with a Sport Association located in Montieri called 75esima Avventura.com. In addition to archery, off-roading trips, canoe trips, adventure camps etc., Simone and his team offer Quad-bike trips. The Quad-bike, or better known as an ATV (All Terrain Vehicle), has only become available in Italy over the last few years, yet passion for this sport has grown rapidly. The Quads have 4 stroke engines, two-seats, 330 cc engine capacity, automatic gear change and reverse gear. These vehicles are very safe for all types of excursions on any type of terrain. They are quiet and comfortable. A quad excursion is a very invigorating experience. You will always be accompanied by a guide who is there to provide the correct means of assistance and saftey precautions. This allows even beginners to learn to drive a quad and experience this unique adventure. The off-road vehicles feature two large seats and are an adequate distance from the ground, allowing one to face demanding passages with peace of mind. Try it!!

Dogs welcome at our Pet Friendly Hotel in Maremma Toscana Would you like to bring your pet on vacation in Tuscany? Hotel Prategiano welcomes human and furry guests alike. The rooms and surroundings are very suited to your four-legged friends. Remember to bring him or her a blanket or bed! There are miles of trails that initiate from the hotel where your dog can run free. Keep in mind there are, however, some restrictions: In the cities and villages your dog must be kept on a leash, and, during the summer months, dogs are not allowed on most beaches in Italy. However, a few kilometers from Hotel Prategiano, there is a "dog beach" where your dog can swim in the small River Merse or play in the sand. The nearest pet-friendly sea beach is south of Follonica in the direction of Castiglione della Pescaia in front of the harbour Puntone ("Kite Surf" beach). At Prategiano, dogs are not the only furry clients welcome. We have also had requests to bring cats and other animals. In the horse boxes at the stables we are able to accommodate private horses, sheep, goats, or other animals. (Nearly) anything is possible. Please inform us at the time of booking if you plan to bring your pet.

Pool and heated SPA The pool at the Hotel Prategiano in Tuscany Outdoor Swimming Pool In the hotter months of the year - from mid-May to mid-September - our outdoor swimming pool is open for a refreshing swim. You can also relax and sunbathe on the poolside patio where there are comfortable sunbeds and umbrellas. The pool with its unique shape is about 18 x 5 meters. The constant filtering ensures clear water, but here in the middle of nature and leaves and pollen fall into the pool. So don’t be deterred by natures sometimes touch when you take a dip. Heated Mini-Pool / Spa / Jacuzzi During the cooler months of the year our Mini-Pool (Jacuzzi), heated to about 37 Celsius, is a welcoming retreat. The hydro-massage in this spa gives your muscles the treatment they deserve after an active day of excursions, hiking, horseback riding or bike trips. Now you can forget about your bad back and contracted muscles. Lose yourself in this warm and pleasant atmosphere of our Spa. Hydro-therapy is a technique which uses the natural properties of water favouring the well being of the mind and total relax of the body. It’s the perfect combination between heat hydro-statics buoyancy and massage. The heated Spa has different jets for different types of hydro-therapy. The Lounge seat has been designed to concentrate 6 points of “aku- pressure” and give an all over body massage. There are 5 comfortable seats for hydro-therapy, 44 jets and cushions for your head. So total relax is guaranteed and you will feel fit again for your next adventures in Maremma Tuscany.

Food and Restaurant Our Tuscan style food is based on simple and traditional ingredients. Try our typical dishes with some famous local red or white wine. Some of our specialities include: Ribollita (Tuscan Soup with beans, cabbage and bread), pici al ragu (thick pasta with meat sauce), gnudi con burro e salvia (dumplings with butter and sage), pappardelle al capriolo (pasta with a deer meat sauce), risotto porri e noci (risotto with leeks and walnuts), tortelli maremmani (tortelloni with spinach, butter and sage), vellutata di ceci e funghi (creamy chickpea soup with wild porcini mushrooms), brasato al vino rosso (braised meat in red wine sauce), cinghiale in umido (wild steamed boar meat), tagliata con rucola e grana (sliced filet with arugala salad and grated cheese), bistecca fiorentina (thick steak), etc. The restaurant of our hotel is composed of 2 rooms; one light room with panoramic windows, and one rustic room. In summer you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner also on the terrace. Dinner is a 3 course meal in which you may choose from 2 dishes for each course, one of which is vegetarian. You may also choose "a la carte" dishes. With half-board bookings, you may either dine in the restaurant or, for lunch, you may join our outdoor lunch trips. These full course "picnics" are held in scenic locations and include all of the offerings of a restaurant meal including coffee and wine. The hotel picnics are enjoyed by horseback riders, cyclists and other guests interested in eating together in the open air of the countryside. They are a special experience offered by Prategiano. Daily breakfast is served as a continental style buffet with coffee, bread, yogurt, cheese, meat, cereal, pasteries and more. The Bar serves small snacks by request.

Rooms B&B in Maremma Toscana Our rooms have the same accommodations as a 3 star hotel or B&B, and are furnished in a simple and comfortable Italian style. All of the rooms have a shower, bathroom, telephone, TV, security safe, electric kettle for boiling water for coffee or tea and fast WIFI internet connection. Fourteen rooms are situated in the main building of the hotel and 10 rooms are located in another villa by the pool. Some of our large double or twin rooms have the option of adding one or two beds for extra guests or children. Some rooms are connected, providing a comfortable setting for large families. A few of the small rooms offer a wonderfull view over the valleys of Maremma Tuscany. Most of the bathrooms in the main building are tiled with old hand-painted tiles from Amalfi. In order to preserve these tiles, we have undergone a partial restoration. The bathrooms in the pool villa have been recently renovated. B&B and Hotel Prategiano offers the perfect location for your holiday base.
